Thinking to oneself 'my wife is divorced'

Question

If a Hanafi man says to himself 'my wife is divorced' and then says out loud 'so be it', is his wife considered divorced?

Answer

If he only thought about this in his mind then no talaaq has taken place.

However, if he verbally uttered these words saying "my wife is divorced" with the intention of issuing a divorce to his wife, then in this case one Raji talaaq (revocable talaaq) has taken place.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
