I'tikaaf in a place which has many Masaajids

Question

Here in Bokaap (Cape Town) in an area of about 2km there are 11 masaajid. So now will it suffice if someone sits for sunnat itikaaf in one of the 11 masajid, or is it necessary for someone to sit in each of the 11 masaajids?

Answer

It is best that I'tikaaf be made in all Musjids. However if there are few Musjids in one area, then sitting in one Musjid will suffice.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

( وسنة مؤكدة في العشر الأخير من رمضان ) أي سنة كفاية كما في البرهان وغيره لاقترانها بعدم الإنكار على من لم يفعله من الصحابة

قال الشامي : قوله ( أي سنة كفاية ) نظيرها إقامة التراويح بالجماعة فإذا قام بها البعض سقط الطلب عن الباقين فلم يأثموا بالمواظبة على الترك لا عذر ولو كان سنة عين لأثموا بترك السنة المؤكدة إثما دون إثم ترك الواجب كما مر بيانه في كتاب الطهارة (رد المحتار 2/442)
