Giving fidyah for missed fasts if one can fast

· 6 Shaʻban 1447 AH1 min readEnglish

Question

Instead of making up for fasts that I missed due to menses of the past 3 years and last year, can I give fidyah and not keep the fast?

Answer

As long as you have the ability to fast, you will have to fast. Giving fidya for the missed fasts will not be permissible for you. If you give the fidya, it will not be valid.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
