Question

I am currently studying in Durban. I reside in Durban from Monday to Friday and go back home approximately (140km) over the weekend.

I would like to know if I am a musafir when in Durban and whether I should shorten my salaah.

Answer

Yes, you are a musaafir in Durban. If you perform salaah behind the imaam in the musjid, you will perform full salaah, and if you perform salaah alone or behind a musaafir, you will perform two rakaats for all four rakaats fardh salaah.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
