Using lemon juice in a science experiment

Question

There is a small science experiment where you can write something using lemon juice on paper, which is not visible when dried. When heat is applied to the area, it becomes visible. I want to know if doing this experiment at a school (a girls-only Islamic school) is permissible or if it is considered wastefulness of the lemon juice?

Answer

If there is no benefit acquired through this, then this is regarded as wastefulness.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
