Was Iblees an angel?

Question

Was iblees from among the angels or was from the jinn? Verse in surah baqarah says اللّه told the angels to bow down. All did but not Iblis. Something to that effect.

Answer

He was from among the Jinn.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
