Meaning of Surah noor ayat 57

Question

Please explain to me this ayah of Quran Chapter 24 surah noor ayat 57?

Answer

The meaning of the verse is that do not think that the kuffaar will escape the punishment of Allah Ta'ala.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

وقوله { لا تَحْسَبَنَّ } أي: [لا تظن] (2) يا محمد { الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا } أي: خالفوك وكذبوك، { مُعْجِزِينَ فِي الأرْضِ } أي: لا يعجزون الله، بل الله قادر عليهم، وسيعذبهم على ذلك أشد العذاب؛ ولهذا قال: { وَمَأْوَاهُمُ } أي: في الدار الآخرة { النَّارُ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ } أي: بئس المآل مآلُ الكافرين، وبئس القرار وبئس المهاد. (تفسير ابن كثير 3/302)
