Eating tripe

Question

Is it permissible to eat the stomach of a halaal animal (cow,goat,sheep)? I heard from someone that it is not allowed.

Answer

If you are refering to tripe, then it is halaal.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

قال ومن حلف لا يأكل لحما فأكل لحم السمك لا يحنث والقياس أن يحنث لأنه يسمى لحما في القرآن وجه الاستحسان أن التسمية مجازية لأن اللحم منشؤه من الدم ولا دم فيه لكونه في الماء وإن أكل لحم خنزير أو لحم إنسان يحنث لأنه لحم حقيقي إلا أنه حرام واليمين قد تعقد للمنع من الحرام وكذا إذا أكل كبدا أو كرشا لأنه لحم حقيقة فإن نموه من الدم ويستعمل استعمال اللحم وقيل في عرفنا لا يحنث لأنه لا يعد لحما (هداية 2/488)
