Question

Is it permissible to stand and urinate?

Answer

Standing and urinating is the way of the kuffaar. Without a valid excuse, it is makrooh for one to stand and urinate.

عن عائشة قالت: من حدثكم أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يبول قائما فلا تصدقوه ما كان يبول إلا قاعدا (سنن الترمذي، الرقم: 12)

قال الفقيه أبو الليث رحمه الله تعالى: قد رخص بعض الناس أن يبول الرجل قائما وكرهه بعضهم إلا من عذر وبه نقول كذا في المحيط (الفتاوى الهندية 5/379)

ويكره أن يبول قائما أو مضطجعا أو متجردا عن ثوبه من غير عذر (البحر الرائق 1/256)

ويكره أن يبول أو يتغوط في الماء والظل والحجر والطريق وتحت شجرة مثمرة والبول قائما إلا من عذر (نور الإيضاح صــ 20)

ويكره أن يبول قائما أو مضطجعا أو متجردا عن ثوبه من غير عذر فإن كان بعذر فلا بأس به (الفتاوى الهندية 1/50)
