Zakaat on 24ct, 22ct and 18ct Gold Jewellary

Question

If someone has 24, 22 and 18 karat gold jewellary, then how will zakaat be calculated? The price of 24 karat gold is Rs. 3100/g. the price of 22 karat gold is 2900/g and price of 18 karat gold is 2400/g.

Answer

If one is discharging his zakaat from gold then one will give one-fortieth (1/40 or 2 ½%) of the gold and if one is discharging his zakaat in cash then one will pay the equivalent of one-fortieth (of the gold) in cash.

نصاب الذهب عشرون مثقالا والفضة مئتا درهم ، كل عشرة دراهم وزن سبعة مثاقيل ... إلخ (شامي 2/295)

( واللازم ) مبتدأ ( في مضروب كل ) منهما ( ومعموله ولو تبرا أو حليا مطلقا ) مباح الاستعمال أو لا ولو للتجمل والنفقة لأنهما خلقا أثمانا فيزكيهما كيف كانا ( أو ) في ( عرض تجارة قيمته نصاب ) ... ( من ذهب أو ورق ) أي فضة مضروبة ... ( ربع عشر ) خبر قوله اللازم ( الدر المختار 2/297-299)

ولو كان له إبريق فضة وزنه مائتان وقيمته ثلاثمائة إن أدى خمسة من عينه فلا كلام أو من غيره جاز عندهما خلافا لمحمد وزفر إلا أن يؤدي الفضل وأجمعوا أنه لو أدى من خلاف جنسه اعتبرت القيمة حتى لو أدى من الذهب ما تبلغ قيمته خمسة دراهم من غير الإناء لم يجز في قولهم لتقوم الجودة عند المقابلة بخلاف الجنس فإن أدى القيمة وقعت عن القدر المستحق (شامي 2/297)
