Not declaring an item to customs
Question
I work for a company that imports fabric. In order to avoid paying the full customs amount, we change the amount of goods declared. For example, if there is a roll of fabric that is 150m in length, we tear the label off and write 50 yards by hand. Is this allowed?
Answer
If you are referring to not declaring something to customs then this will not be haraam, but it does not behove a Muslim to resort to such practices whereby his honour and integrity can be compromised.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
