Zakaat nisaab
Question
My question is how is the zakaat 'nisaab' worked out. In other words how is the minimum zakaat nisaab worked out?
Answer
The Hadith explains that the one who possesses 200 dirhams of silver should pay 5 dirhams in zakaat (i.e. 2.5% of 200 dirhams). Hence the one who possesses zakaatable wealth to the equivalent of 200 dirhams of silver should discharge 2.5% of his wealth.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
