Making istikhara while dating the person

Question

I would like to know if it is permissible to make istikara if you are still dating someone with the intention of going for a proposal. Are we supposed to read the istikara before? Or after the proposal?Can istikara be read before without a proposal? Just to know if that person is meant for you and no families have been involved.

Answer

Before istikhaarah, make sincere taubah and cry to Allah Ta'ala for this misdemeanour. How can you date this person without marriage? Just imagine how angry Allah will be. Break this relationship entirely, make taubah and if you are interested you may speak to your elders.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
