Is stunning before slaughter permissible?

“The animal should not be stunned. Stunning the animal before slaughtering it is against the sunnah. If the animal experiences alot of pain, then stunning the animal will be makrooh-e-tahreemi.”

“There are two methods of stunning; the reversible method of stunning and the irreversible method of stunning. “Reversible stunning” refers to a type of stunning where, the animal is revived after a few minutes (after being stunned) and returns to its normal state. In other words, the animal doesn’t die after stunning.”

“Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh If the animal is such that there is no need to stun it before slaughtering it, then to stun it for no reason will be considered as cruelty and such an act will be makrūh.”
