Can a paralyzed person make Imamat on a wheelchair?

If a man is in a wheelchair paralyzed from waist down. Can he make Imaamat for his wife and kids?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, a person performing Ruku and Sajdah with signs cannot be an Imam for those who can perform Ruku and Sajdah normally.[1]

In the enquired situation, the man sitting on a wheelchair cannot be an Imam for his wife and children.

کیا امام کرسی پر بیٹھ کر نماز کی امامت کرسکتاہے ؟

جو شخص زمین پر بیٹھ کر کسی بھی ہیئت میں نماز نہ پڑھ سکے اور کسی پر بیٹھ کر مجبوری میں نماز ادا کرے چونکہ وہ رکوع وسجدہ کے لیے اشارہ کرے گا اور اشارہ کرنے والے کی اقتداء میں مقتدیوں کی نماز درست نہیں ہوتی پس امام کرسی پر بیٹھ کر امامت نہیں کرسکتا۔

تراویح پڑھانے والا اگر کسی بیماری کی وجہ سے کرسی پر بیٹھ کر تراویح اور وتر پڑھائے تو کیا یہ صحیح ہے?

جواب

جو شخص رکوع و سجود سے قاصر ہونے کی وجہ سے کرسی پر بیٹھ کر اشارہ سے نماز پڑھتا ہو اس کا امامت کرانا درست نہیں، اس کی اقتدا میں نماز نہیں ہوتی، لہذا اگر حافظ صاحب معذور ہیں اور اس کی وجہ سے کرسی پر نمازیں پڑھتے ہیں تو وہ اس حالت میں امامت نہ کریں۔
