How do i pay Kaffarah for an oath i have broken?

Question

Salam

I have to pay kaffarah for broken oaths can I pay to One Humanity as I am unable to find poor people where I live.

Also how much would it be for one broken oath

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, the Kaffarah for breaking an oath is as follows:

1. Freeing a slave, or

2. Feeding ten poor people two average meals, or

3. Clothing ten poor people that is sufficient to conceal their bodies.

If one is unable to fulfil any of the above three due a valid reason, then one should fast for three consecutive days.[1]

In the enquired situation, you may directly contact One Humanity for the exact amount for each Kaffarah, which they may then distribute on your behalf to the poor and needy.

فإن عجز عن أحدهما صام ثلاثة أيّامٍ متتابعةً

قال - رحمه الله - (وكفارته تحرير رقبة أو إطعام عشرة مساكين كهما في الظهار أو كسوتهم بما يستر عامة البدن) لقوله تعالى {فكفارته إطعام عشرة مساكين من أوسط ما تطعمون أهليكم أو كسوتهم} [المائدة: 89] الآية. وكلمة أو للتخيير فكان الواجب أحد الأشياء الثلاثة

قوله ( وكفارته تحرير رقبة أو إطعام عشرة مساكين كهما في الظهار أو كسوتهم بما يستر عامة البدن ) أي وكفارة اليمين بمعنى القسم أو الحلف لما قدمنا أنها مؤنثة والأصل في ذلك قوله تعالى { فكفارته إطعام عشرة مساكين من أوسط ما تطعمون أهليكم أو كسوتهم أو تحرير رقبة } المائدة 98 وكلمة أو للتخيير فكان الواجب أحد الأشياء الثلاثة والتخيير ... (قوله: وإن عجز عن أحدها صام ثلاثة أيام متتابعة) أي إن لم يقدر على الإعتاق والإطعام والكسوة كفر بالصوم لقوله تعالى {فمن لم يجد فصيام ثلاثة أيام} [البقرة: 196] وشرطنا التتابع عملا بقراءة ابن مسعود متتابعات
