Question

Q. I would like to know where should one place the hands of the deceased after passing away. Should it be placed on the side of the body or on the chest for females and on the navel for males?

Answer

The arms will be straightened and placed at the side of the body as per the normal position of the arms when left loose. This applies to both males and females.

The hands must not be placed on the chest or navel. [Tahtaawi pg. 564]
