Would it be permissible to use it instead of Dawood?
Published as Using the name David instead of Dawood
Question
Where is the name David derived from. Would it be permissible to use it instead of Dawood?
Answer
When it is not an Islamic Arabic word then it is not at all right to use it. Like you cannot use the word Jesus for Isa and you cannot keep someone's name as Jesus.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Where scholars differ, it’s safer to take the more cautious view.
