Wife taking husband to court for divorce
Question
My wife is taking me to court for divorce. I got the first letter today from her solictor to say that my wife wants to go court for a divorce. Can I stop that and do it the Islamic way or do I still have to go to court?
Answer
You must stop that.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Is a civil (court) divorce a valid talaaq?
“1. Yes, if the court issues the verdict of divorce, then the divorce will be valid, since the husband authorised the court to act on his behalf in issuing the divorce.”
