Forgetting to recite a surah after Surah Faatihah in the last 2 rakaats of a Sunnah Muakkadah salaah
Question
If I am performing the 4 sunnah muakkadah of Zuhr Salaah, and in the last 2 rakaats, I forget to read a surah after Surah Faatihah, but I only realize that I left this out after I have completed my salaah, is my salaah valid or should I repeat it?
Answer
The salaah will have to be repeated as long as the salaah time remains.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

"و" الثاني "ضم سورة" قصيرة "أو ثلاث آيات" قصار لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بالحمد لله" وسورة في فريضة أو غيرها "في ركعتين غير متعينتين من الفرض" غير الثنائي وفي جميع الثنائي "و" يجب الضم "في جميع ركعات الوتر" لمشابهة السنة "و" جميع ركعات "النفل" لما روينا لأن كل شفع من النافلة صلاة على حدة (مراقي الفلاح صــ 94)
(وإعادتها - يعني الصلاة - بتركه - يعني ترك الواجب - عمدا) أي ما دام الوقت باقيا وكذا في السهو ان لم يسجد له وإن لم يعدها حتى خرج الوقت تسقط مع النقصان وكراهة التحريم ويكون فاسقا آثما وكذا الحكم في كل صلاة أديت مع كراهة التحريم (حاشية الطحطاوي على مراقي الفلاح صـ 165)
(يجب بعد سلام واحد عن يمينه فقط) ... (سجدتان و) ... (تشهد وسلام) ... (إذا كان الوقت صالحا) ... (بترك) متعلق بيجب (واجب) مما مر في صفة الصلاة (سهوا) فلا سجود في العمد (الدر المختار 2/80)
قال العلامة ابن عابدين - رحمه الله -: (قوله بترك واجب) أي من واجبات الصلاة الأصلية لا كل واجب إذ لو ترك ترتيب السور لا يلزمه شيء مع كونه واجبا بحر (رد المحتار 2/80)
