Disciplining children for disrespecting food

Question

If children throw food items in which Quran Aayaat was recited on. After that children they felt guilty for that act. What is the kaffara for this action?

Answer

They should be reprimanded and disciplined for disrespecting the food. They should be told to make taubah and seek forgiveness from Allah Ta'ala for what they had done. As for the food that they had thrown on the floor, then they should be told to pick it up, and if there is no dirt on it, they should eat it. If any dirt had come onto it, then it should be washed and thereafter they should be made to eat it.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
