Two Azaans for Jumuah Salaah

Question

What is the significance of Two Adhaan for Jum'uaa Salaah - One before the commencement of Bayaan and the other before commencement of Khutbah which is in practice (in India)? Please give Hadith references if any?

Answer

This is not only in India, instead the two azaans are called out in the masaajid internationally.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: Why are two Adhaan's given for Jumu'aa Salaah instead of one. Please explain the reasons behind this.

A: This practice is in vogue from the time of Sahaabah. Hence it is part of our Deen.

عن السائب بن يزيد أن الأذان كان أوله حين يجلس الإمام على المنبر يوم الجمعة فى عهد النبى -صلى الله عليه وسلم- وأبى بكر وعمر - رضى الله عنهما - فلما كان خلافة عثمان وكثر الناس أمر عثمان يوم الجمعة بالأذان الثالث فأذن به على الزوراء فثبت الأمر على ذلك (أبو داود #1089)

( ووجب سعي إليها وترك البيع ) ولو مع السعي وفي المسجد أعظم وزرا ( بالأذان الأول ) في الأصح وإن لم يكن في زمن الرسول بل في زمن عثمان وأفاد في البحر صحة إطلاق الحرمة على المكروه تحريما ( ويؤذن ) ثانيا ( بين يديه ) أي الخطيب

قال الشامي : قوله ( وفي الأصح ) قال في شرح المنية واختلفوا في المراد بالأذان الأول فقيل الأول باعتبار المشروعية وهي الذي بين يدي المنبر لأنه الذي أولا في زمنه عليه الصلاة والسلام وزمن أبي بكر وعمر حتى أحدث عثمان الأذان الثاني على الزوراء حيث كثر الناس والأصح أنه الأول باعتبار الوقت وهو الذي يكون على المنارة بعد الزوال اه والزوراء بالمد اسم موضع في المدينة (رد المحتار 1/ 161)
