Question

Is it permissible to break and eat the fruit of the trees growing in the Musjid property? I was told that you can only eat the fruit if it falls on the ground. If it is on the tree one should not break it.

Answer

The fruit can be eaten, provided that the trustees of the Musjid don't mind.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
